Established for more than 120 years, Blackburn College is one of the largest and most successful colleges in the North West. Today we have more than 15,000 students and we have achieved a Grade One Ofsted Inspection, the Training Quality Standard and a Beacon Award. We continue to invest massively in both our campus and our people, and have some very ambitious plans for the future.
At the heart of the Senior Management Team, you will implement an effective Human Resources and Organisational Development strategy and deal with complex disciplinary, grievance, capability and absence issues. This will involve aligning HR policies with changing curriculum and business needs, advising and guiding Managers across the College and coaching your teams to embed best practice at the heart of everything we do. At the same time, you will make certain that our recruitment and reward strategies attract and retain the very best talent, whilst building productive relationships with trade unions to foster an atmosphere of co-operation and clear communication.
A Chartered CIPD member, you will bring extensive experience of managing the HR function within a medium-to-large organisation. In particular, you should be skilled in high-level employee relations, employment tribunals and employment law, with real flair for team building and conflict resolution. Proven ability to lead a Learning and Development function would also be a major advantage, as would a relevant degree or postgraduate qualification, but most importantly you will be a true self-starter with considerable vision and drive.
